February has some pretty well-known holidays, such as Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day. Did you know there is another day that we should all be celebrating on February 9th? It is National Toothache Day! We all know that toothaches are no fun, so you may be wondering why we would celebrate this day. Read on to learn more about the importance of this day and why we should consider celebrating it.
Our teeth are a valuable part of our body and designed to last our entire lives; however, that is not the case for many people. Our teeth perform a series of functions multiple times a day, such as chewing, biting, and tearing food. Since our teeth are such an important part of our daily lives, it is imperative that we care for our teeth properly. National Toothache Day is a reminder to care for your teeth properly. This includes brushing for two minutes twice daily as well as using dental floss every day. Failure to care for your teeth properly on your own can lead to severe dental issues, such as decay and gum disease.
One thing everyone can agree on is that we would all like to avoid a toothache. Two of the easiest ways to avoid dental discomfort are to maintain routine examinations in our office and to maintain an oral hygiene routine every day.
